Sunday 19th
Venazia to Bologna
Our first local, supplement-free train!
An early rise at 6am and breakfast of cornflakes, white sliced toast and strawberry jam at “Sleep Cheap at Francesca’s B&B”, whilst the owners slept in the living room, giving over their two large bedrooms to paying guests. I slept badly as cannon-like fireworks boomed through the Venetian night.
Venice was ridiculously busy, but the back streets as quiet and delightful as ever. Callum & I took a vaporetto down the Gran Canale as party boats with sound systems blaring went the other way.
Chris and I delighted in finding the Chiesa del Angelo Rafaelli from Miss Garnet’s Angel.
Bologna to Ancona
Good to be on the tracks again this morning, on an overcrowded train taking Italian holidaymakers to Adriatic resorts – Rimini, Riccione, Pesaro…
